The hotel sits on Carpenter Street, a relatively quiet one-way road that runs parallel to all the action along the Singapore River. This is more than good luck; it acts as a buffer zone from all the chaos and noise of the main Clarke Quay party strip while keeping you just a 30-second walk away from that very action. You are technically standing at what has now become known as the ‘Clarke Quay’ entertainment precinct, famous for its air-conditioned street canopy, nightclubs (like Zouk), and high-energy bars.

To the south, just a short walk across South Bridge Road, lies the historic district of Chinatown. This makes it easy for you to access and visit cultural landmarks such as the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Sri Mariamman Temple. Being close to Boat Quay (another riverside dining strip nearer to the financial center) means hundreds of dining options-from cheap hawker food at Hong Lim Market & Food Centre to high-end seafood restaurants along the river. The area is safe, well-lit, and very much walkable any time of day or night.

For those iconic-skyline-of-Singapore shot lovers, this is just a short walk across to the Merlion Park and Fullerton Hotel area. A good fifteen-to-twenty-minute walk along the river promenade leads directly into the Marina Bay area. This makes it an excellent launching pad for “urban hiking” through the colonial Civic District and museums up to the modern bayfront where, if desired, one need not actually use public transport at all.
